The Second International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Bangkok (Thailand) on Sunday 26 June, 2016 at the prestigious Chulalongkorn University, in the heart of Bangkok. Around 6000 people participated which included students & yoga enthusiasts. A group of specially abled participants, sponsored by Deaf Association of Thailand also participated in the Event. Her Excellency Ms. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand and Mr. Bhagwant Singh Bishnoi, Ambassador, Mr. Pomthong Malakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Chulalongkorn University and Ms. Yada Theppanom, Miss Grand Thailand 2013 inaugurated the event with lighting of lamp. Video messages on the occasion of 2nd International Yoga Day from Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi and Minister of External Affairs, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, were shown to the participants. Full Yoga session as per the common Yoga protocol was conducted for all participants which was coordinated by Divine Yoga, Bangkok. Yoga experts deputed from India demonstrated advanced yogic postures. Several dignitaries including Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, UN Regional Offices based in Bangkok were present during the Event. Well-known celebrity Ms. Yada Theppanom, Miss Grand Thailand 2013 was the star attraction and famous TV Thai Anchor Ms. Micky Thanachok was Emcee for the Event.
Participants, wearing T-shirts with colours of Indian national flag - green, white and saffron - were seated on the ground to give a look of a tricolor. Simultaneously, 150 people participated in a Yoga Session at Central Festival in Hat Yai, Songkla province.
