The Embassy of India, Bangkok, in association with the Indian Studies Centre of Chulalongkorn University, organized the launch of a book "India-Myanmar Relations: Changing Contours" by Ambassador Rajiv Bhatia [former Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) and former Ambassador of India to Myanmar] on 7 October 2015 at Chulalongkorn University. The book launch was followed by a panel discussion and talk by Ambassador Bhatia on India-Myanmar relations.
Professor Suthiphand Chirathivat, Chairman, Chula Global Network and Executive Director, ASEAN Studies Center of Chulalongkorn University delivered welcome remarks. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla felicitated Ambassador Bhatia on producing a seminal work on relations between India and Myanmar. He added that the book offered a comprehensive evaluation of India-Myanmar relations against the historical backdrop and in the regional context. Ms. Gwen Robinson, Chief Editor, Nikkei Asian Review and Mr. Kavi Chongkittavorn, Senior Fellow at the Institute of Strategic and International Studies, Chulalongkorn University were discussants. Ambassador Bhatia said that the book attempted a comprehensive evaluation of India\'s multi-faceted relations with Myanmar and a special focus had been placed on the reform period when Myanmar began a historic transition from military rule to democratization.
