Makara Sankranti which falls on 14 January is a festival dedicated to the deity Surya (Sun). It is also a harvest festival. It marks the first day of the sun's transit into Makara rashi (Capricorn), marking the end of the month with the winter solstice. Sankranti is observed with varied festivities such as colorful decorations, exchange of sweets/sesame seeds/sugarcane, melas (fairs), dances, flying kites, bonfires and feasts. On the occasion of Lohri festival, SVCC presented a Panjabi dance performance by BOLLYWOOD DANCE STUDIO by Shreya, Bangkok. Lohri is a harvest festival celebrated on 13 January. Dr. Suvit Vibulsvesth delivered a talk on "Swami Vivekananda's Message to the World" and cultural program by Ladies of the Telugu Association of Thailand performed “Kolaatam”. Ambassador H. E.
