"9 May 2022 - Celebration of Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti

   Embassy of India, Bangkok organised a physical event to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on 9 May, 2022 at the Embassy premises. 

   Some prominent Indian diaspora members and the members of academia and media were present at the event. Floral tributes were offered to Rabindranath Tagore.  Ambassador in her opening remarks said, inter alia, that Tagore’s visit to Thailand in 1927 was a seminal one and laid the foundation for the political and cultural connection between India and Thailand in the modern era.

   The guest Speaker, Assoc. Prof. Sawitree Charoenpong of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok spoke at length about the association of Tagore with Thailand. A short programme of Rabindra Sangeet was presented by Indian community members. A performance video titled ‘Eternal Prayer and Joy’ was also played.  The event was live streamed in Face Book."
