77^th Independence Day of the Republic of India

The 77^th anniversary of India’s Independence was  celebrated with gaiety at the Embassy of India, Bangkok on 15 August 2023. The National Flag was hoisted by the Ambassador of India to Thailand, Mr. Nagesh Singh, which was followed by collective singing of the National Anthem by the invited guests.

Ambassador read out the message to the nation delivered by the President of India on the eve of the Independence Day. He also addressed members of the Indian community and the diaspora; and friends of India, who were present at the event. In his speech, Ambassador highlighted India’s social progress and high economic growth trajectory, despite global geopolitical and economic headwinds. He briefed the gathering on Government of India’s policies and programmes for socioeconomic development within the country and as well as India’s contributions towards global good. Ambassador also gave an overview of the rapidly growing, robust and multifaceted India-Thailand bilateral relations.

A cultural programme, which included patriotic songs and dance performances, curated by Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India, was presented before the guests.  Ambassador also felicitated select volunteers from the Indian community for their contributions towards the welfare of the Indian community, either living in Thailand or visiting the country as tourists.

The Independence Day event was attended by more than 300 guests, including eminent members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India.
