INDIAN NAVAL SHIP “KARMUK” ATTENDS CLOSING CEREMONY OF 23RD INDO-THAI CORPAT AT THAILAND

India and Thailand defence cooperation has been growing progressively with regular joint military operations and exchanges of personnel between the Armed Forces of the two countries.  Towards strengthening this partnership, Royal Thai Navy and the Indian Navy have been carrying out coordinated patrolling twice a year since 2002 along the International Maritime Boundary Line in order to keep this essential International Shipping Lane safe and secure for commercial shipping and international trade.  These exercises have reinforced jointmanship and inter-operability amongst the two navies in formalizing measures to prosecute vessels engaged in illegal activities, coordinated search and rescue and pollution control.

The 23rd edition of the Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) and Bilateral Exercise has begun from 16 November 2016 and will continue till 25 November 2016.  The Opening Ceremony of the CORPAT was held on 16 November, 2016 at Port Blair.  Indian Naval Ship “KARMUK” & Dornier aircraft entered Thailand on 22 November, 2016 to participate in the closing Ceremony to be held on 25 November, 2016.   Senior Officer from Thailand Navy (3 NAC) & Embassy of India at Thailand were present to receive the ship.
