Advisory for Indian citizens seeking employment in Thailand

ADVISORY

There has been an increase in the number of cases of human trafficking of Indian nationals to scam-centers engaged in cybercrime and other fraudulent and criminal activities, located in some countries sharing border with Thailand. From Thailand, the victims are illegally taken across the border to these scam-centres where they are forced to work under inhuman conditions and are often subjected to harsh treatments.

Instances of online and offline recruitment of Indian nationals from various states in India and also from overseas locations, through social media platforms and agents, have been reported. The victims are being lured with lucrative employment offers from dubious and non-existing IT/ investment firms in Thailand, and once they reach Thailand they are trafficked to neighbouring countries across the border.

Entering Thailand under the current visa-free regime for the Indian nationals is meant for tourism purposes only, and it does not permit any type of employment in Thailand. Indian nationals are advised to excise maximum caution while considering job offers in Thailand,  thoroughly verify the antecedents of recruiting agents and companies before taking up any job in Thailand, and strictly adhere to government rules and regulations including seeking appropriate visa for the purpose.
