On launching of Mobile Application on Common Yoga Protocol and
Release of book “Yoga: Bharat’s invaluable Gift to the World”

The Embassy of India in Thailand today – 28 August, 2015 - launched the first-ever Mobile Application on Common Yoga Protocol which was used all over the world on the occasion of UN International Day of Yogaon 21st June, 2015.  This Application, which is free to download, will be a handy tool for all Yoga practitioners.  The ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ can be accessed through mobile phone, tablet, laptop etc. easily anywhere.

Launching the application, Ambassador Harsh VardhanShringla said that within 2 ½ months of Prime Minister Narendra Modi exhorting the United Nations to declare an International Day of Yoga, with an unprecedented co-sponsorship of 177 nations, the resolution was passed in the UN General Assembly declaring 21 June – the summer solstice – as the International Day of Yoga.  The first IDY was celebrated worldwide by a record number of people who practiced a Common Yoga Protocol that was designed by India.  In Bangkok 7438 persons perform this Protocol at Chulalongkorn University on 21st June 2015.The enthusiastic response encouraged the Embassy of India, Bangkok to design and develop the mobile app in association with Mr. Padam Jain, RMC Jewellers and Mr. Kumar Raj, Bangkok Scoop.  This mobile application has been launched for the Android version in Hindi, English and Thai languages.  IOS and Windows version will follow soon.

On this occasion, the book “Yoga: Bharat’s Invaluable Gift to the World” written by Mr. V. Ravi Kumar was also released in Thailand by the Embassy with the author.  The book had earlier been released by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi on 9 June, 2015 and by Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs of India, Mrs. SushmaSwaraj in New York on 21 June, 2015, i.e., International Day of Yoga. The Thai version of this book is under preparation and would be released soon.  Mr. Ravi Kumar recounted his experience of writing the book and enchanted the audience with facts and information about the ancient practice of Yoga.

The yoga volunteers who had assisted the Embassy of India, Bangkok in organizing the first International Day of Yoga at Chulalongkorn University on 21st June 2015, were presented with certificates of appreciation for their efforts by Ambassador Shringla and Mr. V. Ravi Kumar.
