Visit of Indian Naval Ships Tir, Sudarshini, Sujata and Coast Guard Ship Varuna to Phuket from 27-31 October 2016.

On 27 October, 2016, three Indian Navy Ships and one ship from the Indian Coast Guard arrived at Phuket. These four ships are a part of the No.1 Training Squadron of the Indian Navy which is based at Kochi - the location of Indian Navy's Southern Naval Command. This visit to Phuket is a part of the Over Seas Deployment of the training of the Indian Naval and Coast Guard officer trainees. During the stay of four days at Phuket, the personnel will carry out multiple professional interactions with their counterparts in the Royal Thai Navy. Indian delegation called on Rear Admiral Montree Jungmankong of 3rd Naval Command of Thailand located in Phuket on 27 October.

Also, the Indian Navy personnel will engage in events aimed at enhancing people to people contact and also organise a medical camp jointly with the Thai Navy personnel for the local population.

This deployment is one of the series of naval interactions between the two navies, which has seen a noticeable growth in the recent years.
