73rd Executive Committee Meeting of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) in Bangkok

On 11 April 2013, during the 73rdExecutive Committee Meeting of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) in Bangkok, Prof. P. J. Kurien, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha (Upper House of the Indian Parliament) has been elected as Chairman of AFPPD. Prof Kurien took over chairmanship from Hon’ble Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, former Prime Minister of Japan.

The AFPPD, which was established in 1981, is a regional non-governmental organization which serves as a coordinating body of twenty five National Committees of Parliamentarians on Population and Development.Indian Parliamentarians have actively contributed to AFPPD activities. Prof Kurien is also the Chairman of the Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development.
